My argument is for school dress codes to better enforced. I believe that there should be more strict rules and that they should be enforced more strictly. The only fight that people have against this issue is that the kids wont be able to be themselves and be unique or creative, but i don't think that it matters. When they get a real job the kids are going to have to follow the dress codes that they are given. School is not a place to show off your body or express how you feel through your clothing. School, just like work, is a place to learn and work at improving ones self. There is a time and a place to wear the clothes that you desire but i do not believe that school is the time or place to do it. When going to school you should dress presentably and professional. When you go out with your friends to a movie or the mall, then is the time to show how unique you are and to be a kid.

  2. Cody,

I really struggle to decide which side I agree with on this topic. You did make a good point that kids are going to have to follow dress codes in certain jobs, and that school is a place to to learn and work at improving yourself. But I love clothes, and it's something I'm passionate about. I eventually want to go into a profession that involves fashion and design. I've found that when I dress up for class, especially in something that is my own creation, I feel more confident when I walk into class, and am reminded of why I am going to school in the first place. Although, having a dress code would keep kids from coming to school in sweats, and would seem more professional, which might make school seem more serious.

  3. An enforced dress code could possibly cause students to find other ways to express themselves. Maybe more students would take an interest in art, music, sports and so on as a result.

  4. I agree with enforcing a dress code policy. How children dress tends to be a big concern to other students, giving reasons why not all students get along. This also allows for different stereotypes and cliches to be started. When students attend school their main focus should be on their studies, not what other people are wearing or how they are dressed. Stereotypes over clothing tend to be a big reason for starting fights, so why shouldn't school administrators take the time to enfore a dress code that will help all students get along and focus more on their studies?

  5. School is about learning all kinds of things math, science, english, and etc. Individuality needs to be established in the high school years. It is a learning experience to be exposed to all different cultures and kinds of people. A lot of people show stuff like that through the clothing they wear. High school needs to be more lineant with stuff like that. They need to stop getting so involved in other peoples lives. I have learned so much more in this year of college than i did in my whole 4 years of high school and i think that is in large part of the lineant rules. I make my own decisions no one makes them for me

  6. I agree with Kyley i think with being able to express yourself and culture through your clothing will help other kids learn more about others and who they are themselves. I definately think that there should be some rules that should be enforced like how low cut shirts are, or how shorts some shorts and skirts get, bit i believe if everyone dressed the same it would get boring.
